Pain therapy

Welcome

If you are suffering from pain, stiffness or physical dysfunction that is impairing your quality of life, a treatment at the Pain Clinic can offer significant relief.

Each treatment is based on a thorough assessment of the root cause of the issue. I then use a combination of soft tissue therapies including applied myoskeletal therapy, bowen therapy and exercise rehabilitation advice to keep the improvements locked in. I take the time to understand your history, symptoms and then apply the most appropriate  techniques to ease pain, restore confident movement

This approach aims to:

  • Support recovery from injuries and strains

  • Improve posture, alignment, and functional movement

  • Calm the nervous system and reduce stress

  • Enhance mobility and flexibility

  • Reduce muscle tension and ease joint pain

  • Assist with chronic conditions

Particular attention is given to the alignment of neck, spine and pelvis and to address any imbalances. By releasing muscular restrictions that are creating an imbalance, proper function can return to the whole musculoskeletal system and the underlying cause of pain and discomfort is addressed.

When you Identify the restriction and release it, the body can move freely again and return to health.

Bowen Therapy

Bowen therapy is a relaxing yet profound treatment that uses precise moves over muscle/nerve/connective tissues to release muscles causing pain. The aim is to identify and address the primary underlying problem which may then be causing a chain reaction of problems in other areas of the body. The targeted moves then prompt the body to self correct to a balanced state which in turn relieves tension, promotes healing and reduces pain.

The Bowen Technique is safe and effective for people of all ages, from babies to the elderly, from sports enthusiasts to those with chronic conditions.

Applied Myoskeletal Therapy

Applied Myoskeletal Therapy was developed in Australia by John Garfield. It involves the assessment, treatment, and management of soft tissue injury, pain and dysfunction of the neuro-musculoskeletal system. It contains cross fibre soft- tissue moves, along with a wide variety of muscle releases and sustained holds to treat soft-tissue dysfunction.

AMT is effective in identifying and treating misalignment issues such as pelvic tilt, unilateral and bilateral pelvic rotations, functional leg length discrepancy, vertebral rotations and sacral lateral deviation.

Instrument Assisted
Soft Tissue Therapy

Whilst working on soft tissues, physical therapists often feel knots, adhesions and restrictions in the muscles. This occurs when tissue fibres and cells have become 'disorganised' and inflamed as a result of injury. This can restrict movement and cause pain in the affected area.

The use of ergonomically shaped, bevelled tools can be of great assistance in healing these adhesions. First the restriction is located and then the appropriate tool is 'scraped' gently over the muscle, ligament or tendon. This both breaks up the adhesion and causes blood to flow freely so that mobility and function are restored and pain is eased away.
